As our gillnet season comes to a lull for a few week, we are shifting gears unexpectedly. We had a very slow start to our season this year, and when Kevin was offered a job on a friend's boat in a different fishery, we got him on the next tender out of town. He'll likely be out for a month or two and while we will miss him, we are so grateful for this new opportunity. See you in the fall!

Sometimes being a fisherman means being adaptable. Our Copper River season isn't shaping up the way we hoped it would, and Kevin will be heading across the Sound for much of the rest of summer. Our boat is too small for all of us to go with him for that far and that long, or we would tag along. Sometimes being a fishing kid is tough. Wishing him luck over there ❤️

Overnight salt cure for cold smoke salmon lox. Different people have different methods. We like to vac pac it while it cures so that it's not exposed to air. Tomorrow, we'll cold smoke it for a few hours and then vac pac it again to freeze for winter.
